Derived Grids in JavaScript: Roll Up and Join
A derived grid is a real grid whose rows are computed from another grid. Describe the shape you want, filtered, grouped, joined or profiled, and it recomputes whenever the source or its filters change. Chain another on top, and the panels beside your table cannot disagree with it.

the same idea, joined
Enrich one dataset from another.
Orders here carry a customer id but no tier. A join brings the tier across from a separate customers grid, then revenue is grouped by it, without flattening the two together beforehand.
what it does
Shape the rows, and leave the wiring to the grid.
Filter
A where test keeps only the rows that qualify, such as the tickets that breached their target. With no grouping the rows pass straight through.
Roll up
Group and total the source: revenue by rep, tickets by week. Unnest an array column first, bucket dates by period, or keep the top rows up to a running share.
Join
Bring fields across from a second grid on a shared key, then group or total on them. An inner join by default, a left join when the unmatched rows are the finding.
Profile
A statistical profile of a column, as a grid of its own that sorts, filters and exports like any other.
Chain
A derived grid can be the source of another, to any depth, so a third level reads the second without touching the first.
Stay live
By default a derived grid reads the filtered rows of its source and recomputes when they change. Choose all rows or the selection instead if you prefer.
Looking for pivot? The grid pivots its own rows too, so the distinct values of a field become columns; see the pivot demo.
demos
Run it, then change it.
Derived chaining
Sales, then revenue per rep, then the top three, with tiles reading the middle level.
Derived join
A customer tier brought across from a second grid, then revenue grouped by it.
Derived statistics
Panels computed from the trading days above them, rewritten as you filter.
