Unless you allow analytics or advertising, this site sets no cookies at all. If you do allow analytics, Google Analytics sets two. If you allow advertising, Reddit sets one, to measure which of our ads brought you here.

Local storage differs from a cookie in a way that matters here: a cookie is attached to every request your browser makes to us, whereas local storage is never transmitted. Your answer stays on your machine. We cannot read it from the server, and we do not try.

Choose "Essential only" and neither of these is set, because the Google Analytics script is never downloaded in the first place. Withdraw permission later and we delete both: withdrawing removes the _ga and _ga_P1K11KD0LP cookies for this site and stops any further data being sent to Google. They are set only with your Analytics consent, and we send Google no name, email address or licence key.

Choose "Essential only", or allow Analytics only, and none of these is set, because Reddit's script and Google's advertising tag are never started. They are requested only after you allow advertising. Withdraw permission and we delete the Google Ads cookies, send no further events to either company from the page, and tell Google that advertising storage is denied. We send Reddit and Google no name, email address or licence key.

How the permission actually works

Most sites load their analytics in the page head and then show a banner asking permission for what has already happened. This one does not. The Google and Reddit scripts are requested from the code that handles your answer, so if you have not said yes, your browser never contacts Google or Reddit at all. There is nothing to delete afterwards because nothing was set.

Things we do not do

• No advertising pixels other than Reddit's and the Google Ads conversion tag, and only if you allow advertising.
• No social media embeds or share buttons that phone home.
• No session replay, heatmaps, or scroll tracking.
• No Google Signals, and Analytics alone never switches on ad personalisation.
• No fingerprinting, and no attempt to identify you across sites.
• No third-party fonts. Our typefaces are served from our own domain specifically so that your browser never contacts anyone else to render this page.

Changing your mind

Use the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of any page. You can also clear site data in your browser, which removes the stored answer and means you will be asked again on your next visit.

The grid demo

The data grid on the homepage generates its rows in your browser from a fixed seed. There is no server behind it, nothing you do to it is recorded, and no data about your interaction with it is sent anywhere.
