What happened

duckdbAdapter({ spatial }) found a geometry column by name - spatial.column, or the GeoParquet metadata - whose engine type is neither GEOMETRY nor a BLOB of WKB, so there is no SQL that reads it as a shape. Spatial conditions on it compile to FALSE rather than a guess.

The fix

Point spatial.column at the WKB or GEOMETRY column, or convert the column in the FROM (for WKT text, a view selecting ST_GeomFromText(col)).
