What happened

grid.form.openNew() was called on a grid whose row form is not switched on, or on a headless grid, which has no renderer to draw a form. It returned false and nothing opened.

The fix

Configure rowForm on the grid (rowForm: true, or an options object) and create it with createGrid rather than createHeadlessGrid.
