What happened
Undoing a move or edit writes back through the same path the original change used, so a beforeMove/beforeEdit handler (or the WIP gate) that refuses the inverse also refuses the undo. The card stayed where it was and the step was not popped, so the history is exactly as before the attempt.
The fix
Remove or relax the vetoing handler for that card, or leave the card where it is and undo a later step instead.
The smallest fix
board.on('beforeMove', (ev) => { if (ev.to === 'done') ev.preventDefault('done is closed'); });
