What happened

engine() compiles its condition into the pushdown query, which only exists when the board was created with a source. The tree was kept, so it is ready if a source is bound later, but until then the board does not narrow anything by it.

The fix

Create the board with a source, or register the predicate with board.filters.where to filter the loaded cards client-side.
