What happened

getItem(name).set(props) applies the common props every item shares (placeholder, label, labelPosition, labelWidth, helpMessage, required, readOnly, disabled, hidden, width, validation, errorMessage, css) and whatever a control additionally declares live (min/max/step/format on number, for instance). A key that is neither of those falls through unapplied: the item's value and every other prop stay exactly as they were.

The fix

Check the prop name, and the control's own section of the form module reference for which of its options are live versus build-only.
