What happened

volume was set on a chart whose type is not candlestick. A volume pane is drawn under a candlestick's price pane on the same x axis; no other type has a price pane to put it under, so the option was refused rather than accepted and silently ignored.

The fix

Set type: 'candlestick' with four measures (open, high, low, close), or remove volume and draw the volume as its own bar chart.
