What happened

ramp.scale names how a value is placed along a colour ramp, and only linear, log and quantile exist. The unknown name was ignored and the default rule applied: log when the positive values span more than 100:1, linear otherwise.

The fix

Set ramp.scale to 'linear', 'log' or 'quantile', or leave it out to let the chart choose.
