What happened

A diverging ramp (diverging: true) is centred on zero so the sign reads first, and a log or quantile placement would move that centre. The chart kept the diverging ramp linear and ignored the scale.

The fix

Drop diverging to colour by a log or quantile scale, or drop ramp.scale to keep the diverging ramp.
