What happened

apply() was called on a calendar created with a grid. A grid-bound calendar takes its rows from that grid, so accepting a diff here would give it a second source of truth; the diff was dropped and the calendar still shows the grid's rows.

The fix

Apply the diff to the grid and the calendar follows it, or create the calendar without grid if it is to be driven directly.
